Week in Review
Hey y’all! Thea here, back with an IDP update post-hiatus! It’s good to be back, and we are excited to share some upcoming projects with you!
We spent Monday and Tuesday organizing our upcoming All Work No Play Festival: Take 4. Invisible Disco is so thankful for the community’s continued support of this festival; it means the world to us that a night of short plays meant to be a one-off has blossomed into a festival where our colleagues can create and direct their own work. We are proud to have involved over 75 writers, directors, and actors in All Work, No Play, and we hope to continue the tradition. You can find tickets for this round at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/all-work-no-play-4-a-night-of-10-minute-plays-tickets-143832870989.
Wednesday saw the evolution of our Artists We Admire campaign on Instagram! For the next few months, we’ll be bringing you Art We Admire, aka, specific albums, movies, books, plays, etc. that The Disco Team loves. This week’s featured work was “Coming Home,” a 2015 album by Leon Bridges.
Thursday, IDP Co-Founder Lauren Montes did her final preparations for the Triangle Rainbow Productions LGBTQ Short Play Festival production of her short zoom play, “God’s HR”. Esther Um and Bella Maxwell are reprising their roles this weekend, and it’s sure to be a good time! Tickets can be found here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_hzLLvpHYRt2sNRdgNuuhPQ
Friday, we premiered Writer’s Block Party Season 2, beginning with Episode 15 and the fantastic GIORGIA VALENTI! Giorgia is an amazing creator with her own entertainment company, Et Alia, and we are so excited that we were lucky enough to get her on the pod! Giorgia and hosts Deniz and Lauren discussed her new work, “In Parts,” and all sorts of other interesting things that you’ll have to listen to the episode to find out about!!
Yesterday, “God’s HR” debuted at the Triangle Rainbow Productions Festival, but if you missed it, you still have one more chance to watch and vote tomorrow! Don’t miss it! Tickets at the link above.
Today, we had the first meeting with our third Writers’ Collective, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we couldn’t be more excited by the talent these 12 artists possess. Keep an eye on our Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/invisiblediscoproductions/), because we will soon be starting a Writer’s Corner Takeover series on Mondays, so that you can meet everyone in the group!
All our best,
Thea and the Team
