Weeks in Review
Hi y’all! We’ve been busy, and we’d love to loop you in!
On March 1 we started a new Instagram series entitled “Writer’s Corner,” in which a member of our current Writer’s Group takes over the IDP account for a day in hopes of connecting with you all! Our feature last Monday was the one, the only, EMMA QUINLAN BAXTER! We love her, she did an amazing takeover, and you should definitely go check out her post!
March 3, our brand new Indiegogo campaign began in ernest. You can find all relevant information about this campaign and the two films your money could help produce at this link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/invisible-disco-production-film-fund/x/26058865?create_edit=true#/. Thank you!!
The 17th podcast episode, “Excuse Me, Ms.” came out March 5 and featured dynamic guest Claire Smith! She and hosts Amelia and Lauren spoke about high school and Norwegian television, among other things. We love Claire, and we would love to hear your thoughts about the episode and the show at large! Head over to iTunes to rate and review; we so appreciate you!
Last Sunday was a big day for us; we were interviewed by the amazing Esther Um on behalf of Artists In Action, a student-led community service club dedicated to highlighting artists and groups of artists who use their platform(s) to create successful collaborative spaces. We were so honored to get to chat with Esther about IDP and the work we’ve done in pursuit of collaborative spaces in the time of COVID and, hopefully, beyond. We also had another excellent round of Writer’s Group and we’re gearing up to talk about the showcase that will happen in a few weeks, so keep an ear out for that information! Finally, we scheduled our very first in-person company meeting! While we have loved bringing you zoom theatre in various formats from our very own homes, we must admit that meeting exclusively on zoom is a very difficult way to cultivate a business, so we couldn’t be more excited about seeing each other and getting to work!
This past Monday saw an evolution of our All Work, No Play tech process. We’re constantly workshopping ways to make things easier in this no-contact era, and this 4th iteration’s tech rehearsal was a big step in the right direction!
Wednesday was our fourth All Work, No Play festival! We couldn’t be more grateful to the 16 writers, directors, and actors who made this show a roaring success. If you’d like to see the event, check it out here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/invisible-disco-production-film-fund/x/26058865?create_edit=true#/ and be sure to like the video and subscribe to our channel!
Thursday, we filmed a little something for the Patrons who pledge at a $10+ level, and we’re very excited to share it, so make sure you take a look at our Patreon here https://www.patreon.com/invisiblediscoproductions?fan_landing=true and see if pledging for a month or longer might be something you are interested in! We would love to have you on board!
Friday, we aired Episode 18 of Writer’s Block Party, featuring the wonderful KATHERINE MONTES! Katherine brought in a wonderful snippet from a play she’s writing entitled “Just Lips,” and chatted with hosts Lauren and Thea about the heretofore unwritten ‘bathroom sink drama,’ writing as an actor and vice versa, and what she does when she has writer’s block. It was an absolute blast of a conversation, and we hope you enjoy the episode! MAJOR shout-out to our editor-in-chief Noah Friend, who did this one on incredibly short notice. We could not put out the quality of content we do without his guidance, wisdom, and magical editing abilities, and we are so grateful for all that he does for the pod and the Disco at large. Thank you, Noah!
Today, we had our fourth Writer’s Group meeting, and our second Writer’s Corner Takeover will happen tomorrow, featuring a true friend, Miranda Kang!
All our best,
Thea and the Team
