A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
At the Angelika Film Center, we held the theatrical premiere of our two BEST SHORTS from our first annual Emerging: A Virtual Film Festival.
BEST DRAMA SHORT: ‘Til Morning.
Directed by Ana Moioli & Ryan Cairns Written by Luísa Galatti. Till Morning is a coming-of-age short film about Julia, a Brazilian student in her last semester of college in New York City. After losing her family ties due to political disagreements she has to financially provide for herself. As she tries to find a solution to her problem, Julia hopes to find a job opportunity at a Brazilian bar. That's how she meets David; he's engaged by her quirkiness, foreignness, and confidence. Julia has been relying on her partner Jada for a place to stay and for security. As Julia's and Jada's true colors reveal during their cohabitation, their relationship becomes tense. Finally, Jada advises Julia to go home and solve her problems with her parents. Meanwhile, David has an offer that is going to be very hard for Julia to refuse.
The film stars Luisa Galatti and Giorgia Valenti as well as John Squires as Andrew.
BEST COMEDY SHORT: She Knows Her Place
She Knows Her Place A Wacky bit birthed out a conversation among 4 writers that aren't men. Playwrights, screenwriters, sketch writers, poets.... none of them remember what they do...

These films played in a completely sold-out theatre filled with family and friends. All these films have already done the festival circuit were a complete pleasure to screen on a true movie theatre screen at a historic theatre SoHo theatre.
