Meet the Writers!

Hey everybody!

Well it’s official; All Work, No Play Take 3 is happening at 8pm EDT on Wednesday, December 2! We have 5 new plays for you, and without further ado, we’d love for you to meet the writers!

Sam Carbery (she/they) is a writer, actor, director, and recent graduate from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Inspired by a childhood penchant for backyard theater and an enduring love of history, their work uses old stories to explore new questions, creating playgrounds where castles are made out of cardboard, wisdom wears tap shoes, and most artistic hurdles are solved by a little duct tape, an old postcard, and a long walk. Recent credits include Giving Up the Ghost (2019) and Dark Skies (2020).

Lauren Hardman is a writer, actor, and director based in New York City. She is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a dual BFA in Theatre and Dramatic Writing, with a concentration in Writing for Television. Lauren told a cab driver this once, and he yelled at her. In the before-times, she wrote and performed live with Only Sketches About—a sketch comedy group—putting on bi-monthly themed shows at the People’s Improv Theatre. Since quarantine, she’s worked with Only Sketches About to launch an audio sketch comedy podcast (available on Spotify, Apple, and wherever else you listen). An alum of NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing, recent acting credits include Tennessee Williams’ Camino Real, Charles Ludlam’s Le Bourgeois Avant-Garde, and an original play, Ms. Information, which she also directed. Lauren is an absolute control freak who went to an all girls Catholic school for twelve years, so obviously she does improv comedy and writes women-driven dramedies.

Katrina Newman is a bicoastal actor and senior at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she will graduate with her B.F.A. in Drama in December. Katrina has performed on stage with Shakespeare in the Square and the Atlantic Acting School. Now, she focuses on film and TV acting at Stonestreet Studios. There, she currently acts in short films remotely, such as Gold Rush, Into the Badlands, and Virtual DMV. She is also a screenwriter, having written a short film titled The Depths of Me, and other pilot episodes. However, she is especially excited for the reading of "The Portrait," because it is her first short play.

Claire Smith is an actor and writer based in New York City. She is a graduate of NYU’s Atlantic Studio, where she could be recently seen in « Stupid Fucking Bird » and « EVERYBODY. » Claire is proud to be a part of Invisible Disco’s Writer’s Collective and is thrilled to be debuting her writing with Invisible Disco. If you’re interested in working together - reach out!

Amelia Annen is a writer, actor, and comedian. Her favorite roles include Marina in Uncle Vanya and Adult Woman in Spring Awakening both at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. As well, she wrote and performed her one-woman show, “This Feeling” at the Frigid Fringe Festival this winter. This past year she was an intern at Evan Bernardin Productions. She is president of NYU’s only variety comedy team Friends With Dads. As well, she is a member of Women Stand Up, a stand up collective created to promote womxn trying Stand Up for the first time. She loves to read, write and make people laugh. As well, she is very excited for Invisible Disco’s upcoming projects!

We love these writers and the work they’re bringing to the table, and we are so excited for you all to join us!

The Disco Team
